Job Description
iPass is building up its global accounting team and is recruiting for a Director of Accounting which will be based at its corporate headquarters in Redwood Shores, California. The Director of Accounting will report to the Vice President and Controller. The position is responsible for providing operational leadership and support of accounting activities including general ledger, operational accounting and financial reporting. Additionally this position will support on-going internal Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts.
The Director of Accounting will play a key role in managing the overall accounting operations of the Company and will be a point person for the Company's day-to-day accounting operations. This position will be hands on, interact and coordinate with colleagues in FP&A, Billing Operations, Tax, and the various Business Units to ensure proper accounting treatment, execution of accounting functions and reporting of results. The Director of Accounting will play a key leadership role in the Finance organization around change management, process improvement, scaling accounting infrastructure and operations, and building and developing the team of professionals.
This key member of our accounting management team will support accounting and related operational activities for iPass.
Position Responsibilities:
* Directs and oversees the Company's accounting function, including financial reporting, execution of operational accounting policy, and global revenue accounting, within the Khameleon accounting software system.
* Directs and oversees all accounting operations including all general ledger responsibilities, disbursements & A/P, fixed assets, and other functions.
* Coordinates accounting policies and associated research around Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Evaluates the intricate business environment and recommends reports or Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that provides management insight into the business operations.
* Ensures that consolidated financial results are complete, consistently prepared and materially correct and directs the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes.
* Runs the monthly/quarterly close process, ensuring all results are posted and fully analyzed in a timely manager and reported to executive management per defined timelines.
* Designs and prepares complex financial analysis for use in the monthly and quarterly closing process.
* Designs and documents the methods for preparing internal financial reports for management, detailing the results of the accounting period; including balance sheets, income statements, cash flows and custom reports.
* Coordinates with all levels of management within the Chief Financial Officer's organization to gain assurance that the reports are accurate and complete, with fluctuations identified and explained.
* Assists auditors with access to confidential financial information as required.
* Manage cash flow to assure the Company meets all payment obligations in accordance with its commitments.
* Maintain internal control process and procedures that provide sufficient levels of checks and balances to assure safeguarding of Company assets.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
* Educations: CPA and Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; recent big four accounting firm experience preferred.
* Experience: Five or more years of progressive accounting/audit experience with a big four accounting firm or five or more years industry experience within a medium to large scale high tech company.
* Professional Qualities: Exceptional time management skills, ability to handle tight deadlines, strategic thinker, strong communication skills with ability to present complex ideas to a varying audiences, track record of working collaboratively with teams, and ability to execute on agreed upon plans.
* Other Skills: Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word; and 5 or more years experience with accounting systems.
