Position Description

Affymetrix is seeking a Scientist in the AffyLabs research group. Primary responsibilities include the design, execution and interpretation of experiments to study the use of enzymatic reactions on experimental DNA arrays.  Examples include (but are not limited to)  solid-phase PCR on array surfaces, quantitative studies of DNA through novel hybridization assays, and novel methods for SNP genotyping on arrays.  Working closely with Chemists, this position relies heavily on the use of molecular biology techniques in building, characterizing and troubleshooting experimental arrays.

Position Requirements

Ph.D. in biological sciences field (eg. Biochemistry, Molecular Biology)
Experience: 0-3 years psot graduation.  Must have excellent hands-on lab bench skills. Requires: Strong research and publication record. Strong analytical/computational skills. Ability to analyze and creatively problem solve via rigorous experimental design. Excellent organizational, computer and verbal/written communication skills.
