Job Description:
As a Corporate Counsel and Cross-Divisional Business Partner for the Industry Groups of Autodesk, you will work closely with business leaders and with members of the legal department to support the unique cross-divisional aspects of the product and industry groups of the company. Your responsibilities will include serving as a trusted advisor providing practical, business-oriented legal advice on a broad range of issues that relate to multiple product businesses or industry groups within the company, supporting, among other things, intellectual property, strategic licensing, sales and marketing and strategic relationship activities and working with other professionals in the legal department in the development and execution of policies, procedures and processes for application across Autodesk's product and industry divisions. You will be flexible, self-motivated, have excellent judgment and work closely with clients at all levels and with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for various legal issues related to product development and marketing including in-bound and outbound technology licensing, development agreements, advising on new business and licensing models and marketing issues, structuring and negotiating strategic alliances;
· Partner with other members of the Industry Group practice group within the Autodesk legal department to coordinate and address unique legal and business issues relating to product and development consolidation, coordination and planning across product divisions.
· Provide advice and guidance on customer transactions for sales of end user licenses and consulting arrangements, among other things;
· Advise the divisions and corporation on wide range of legal issues including intellectual property, marketing and sales issues and commercial and corporate issues with a particular focus on gaining cross-divisional efficiencies and implementing best practices;
· Support cross-divisional strategic relationship and mergers and acquisitions strategy;
· Develop and implement training programs to advise management, developers, sales team members and other parts of the organization on best practices in relevant legal areas;
Requirements:
· At least 5 years legal experience (both well-regarded law firm and in house experience preferred);
· Excellent academic credentials;
· Superior business judgment, ability to work with cross-functional teams and take a leadership role in driving solutions;
· Broad knowledge of intellectual property, commercial law matters and exposure to M&A;
· Expertise in drafting a variety of contracts and in negotiating all types of commercial transactions;
· Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent teamwork skills, capable of interacting comfortably with executives and senior management;
· Relevant state bar admission in good standing;
· Experience in the software industry desirable;
· Willingness to travel.
