Our products – focused on primary and secondary schools, higher education, and professional education– help drive student achievement through online teaching and learning, online collaboration and campus communities, campus commerce services, mass messaging and notifications and mobile solutions to support campus life.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Blackboard has recently launched a brand new product line: Blackboard Mobile. This is a unique opportunity to work with a small entrepreneurial team developing a cutting edge solution within a larger market leading company. The ideal candidate will understand client needs, market opportunities, and use this knowledge to build excitement that drives Blackboard Mobile sales. The Senior Manager owns client needs definition, product messaging/positioning, new product launch, sales readiness and the orchestration of marketing campaigns in partnership with Blackboard’s corporate and vertical marketing teams. Essential to this position is a deep understanding of marketing, the ability to guide and work effectively with cross-functional teams, and the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for:
•    Develop and create product positioning which differentiates Blackboard from the competition.  Must understand and communicate the key features and benefits of competitive products.
•    Product launch strategy and execution for Blackboard Mobile products – both new product modules as well as new versions of current modules
•    Partnering with corporate and vertical marketing, campaign strategy and execution to increase market awareness of Blackboard Mobile and drive sales leads
•    In order to do the above, you will be required to:
?    Research and assess buyer needs, priorities, and buying process
?    Develop product positioning and deliver sales support materials.
?    Create client-facing collateral, sales training materials, and demonstrations
?    Develop integrated marketing plans for the product or campaign launch.
?    Lead cross-functional teams to ensure effective product launches and support corporate/vertical campaigns. Coordinating with numerous groups including Sales, Corporate and Vertical Marketing and Product Development.
?    Define and track key platform success metrics
?    Promote products through conference presentations and media interviews

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
•    7-10 years of professional experience.
•    4-7 years experience in product, channel or segment marketing.
•    Experience in academic or mobile technology market is highly desirable.
•    Experience with the Pragmatic Marketing methodology is preferred.
•    Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and oral. Writing samples will be requested.
•    Strong project management and coordination skills; and ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional team environment.
•    Ability to translate client need into business requirements and software features into client benefits.
•    Must have Bachelors degree and be eligible to work in the United States. Advanced Degree preferred.
•    Creative problem solvers welcome!
