Facebook is seeking a MySQL DBA. This position will be primarily responsible for managing and providing active support for mission-critical MySQL production/QA/dev environments. A good candidate should have a “can-do” attitude and work well in a cross-functional environment. The position is full-time and will report to the Manager of Database Operation. The position is based in our main office in downtown Palo Alto, CA.
Responsibilities
* Provides all aspects of MySQL administration: installation, configuration, backup strategy, disaster recovery, upgrades, schema deployment
* Implements and manages database replication
* Responsible for availability and usability of the database servers
* Develops tools to automate and manage world-class MySQL tiers
* Provide requirements and solutions to expand existing monitoring tools
* Works with various operation and engineering teams as necessary
* Quickly diagnose server problems and employ preventive measures to maintain high availability servers
* Estimating project duration, effort, resource load and cost
* Creating processes to ensure data integrity and identify potential data errors
* Use and enforce best practices in data management based upon industry standard
* Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required
* Proficient in SQL and scripting languages (PHP, Perl)
* Experience with MySQL Database Administration
* Performance tuning experience
* Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other staff members, to complete short and long-term projects
* Must be able to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
